TOML’s Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy, as updated from time to time, explains how the International Olympic Committee (“IOC”) processes Your personal data in relation with the use of The Olympic Multimedia Library (“TOML”) and complements the IOC Privacy Policy available here.
The IOC attaches great importance to privacy and undertakes to protect all the personal data it processes through TOML in compliance with data protection laws.
By having access to TOML, requesting the delivery of photographs, illustrations, audio, and audio-visual materials that you license from The Olympic Multimedia Library (the “IOC Content”), or submitting Your “Search Request”, You accept to provide Your personal data to the IOC. The IOC and/or its subcontractors will collect and process Your personal data, in accordance with the IOC Privacy Policy and the present Privacy Policy to fullfill You request, in accordance also with the IOC Content License Agreement and, where applicable, the TOML’s Terms of Use.
1. Registration and processing of personal data
The use of TOML requires that You register with the IOC and provide the IOC with certain information about Yourself, and/or a third party including certain personal data such as
• First name
• Last name
• Job title
• Company name
• Email address;
• Phone number (not mandatory)
• Postal address
• As well as other information as deemed necessary by the IOC for Your use of TOML
With regard to the functionality “Deliver to someone else” according to which You as TOML user may enter the customer details of a third party who doesn’t have access to TOML so that this person can directly receive the IOC Content, prior to disclosing to the IOC any personal data related to such third party, You agree to: (i) inform him/her by sharing this Privacy Policy and making sure such person understands it, and (ii) obtain the authorization to disclose his/her personal data so that the IOC is allowed to process such personal data in accordance with the applicable laws.
The IOC commits to process Your personal data always in a transparent, lawful and proportional manner and solely for the following purposes (the “Authorized Purposes”):
1. Registration and use of TOML;
2. Delivery of the IOC Content;
3. Maintenance and improvement of TOML;
4. Compilation of statistics in order to improve the quality of the services offered to users;
5. Upon your consent, information to You about the activities of the IOC and the Olympic Movement
2. Cookies
You also understand that the IOC may implement automatic tracking processes (cookies) gathering anonymous information, such as browser type, operating systems and the date and time of access when You use TOML to help improve the IOC Content and functionalities of TOML, to customize TOML for its users and enhance their experience. You may block cookies by changing Your browser settings.
3. Data retention
The IOC will retain Your Personal Data only as long as necessary for the Authorized Purposes. Please note that data may be kept for a longer period of time exclusively for mere statistical purposes and the IOC shall use anonymous data wherever possible.
4. Amendment of this Privacy Policy
The IOC reserves the right to change any of the terms and conditions contained in the present Privacy Policy, at any time and in its sole discretion. When we make changes, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of TOML’s Terms of Use. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting on TOML. Your continued use of TOML following the posting of changes will constitute Your acceptance of such changes. We encourage You to review TOML’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy whenever You visit TOML.
